This is the culmination of my efforts to document my journey into the world of learning the bagpipes, a quest that I have been assured by many sources will take a good while. I’m okay with doing the seven years, I just need to find the seven generations that I’ve also been told are necessary. I’m keeping the blog as a way to stay motivated beyond my desire to play since writing seems to be another passion of mine, but you’re welcome to join me and live vicariously through it. I do hope to entertain just as much as I vent… though the venting might prove to be the most enjoyable parts.

Keep up the practice and the writing. Of course, practicing the pipes will get you further than writing, but you can likely fit both in.
Also, check out John Walsh pipes. They’re garnering a pretty good reputation, and I’ve been to the shop where they’re making’em.
cheers.

Will do! And yes, I am a bit partial to both. Writing seems to be in me regardless though it hasn’t manifested itself into anything worthy of note yet! I’ll definitely add them to my list of makers to check out.

I have been teaching a group of adults;they were over 50 when they started. I have just printed a series of 4 books outlining the method and strategies used in teaching them. They have performed as soloists, competed successfully, piped for family celebrations and public performances and are enjoying their instruments a great deal. If you’re interested, you might find some helpful ideas in these books.
